Black Bear!

Apparently a black bear actually made an appearance to the MLRC CanJam Black Bear Rally June 12. We never encountered any bears, though. We did, however, see quite a number of other types wildlife on the sides of the roads, always in pairs, and often with the same colouring. There was the bright red pair in the very rare Russian plover. While the plover was well off the road, it should be flying again soon.

Alan and Bruce were able to survive the rally, and finished 11th overall and first in Production GT class. The other 2 entries in P-GT had troubles on the new Moccasin Lake stage. Biernacke and Hagen lost control on the first go-round and lost 6 minutes stuck on the side of the road. Haywood and Felice rolled on the second take of this stage and were out of the rally. Biernacke clawed back most of the time, but a broken down-pipe dropped his turbo boost to nil, and they finished 2 minutes behind us.

Alan and I were clicking really well by the last stage, though the times didn't reflect it. The car worked well, with no hiccups at all.

Great roads and a good length for a regional rally (106 km.).

Many thanks to Chris and William Haid for their help at our events. Also kudos to Lawrence Hacking for his assistance.

Next events - Jane and Bruce will be laying out the next MLRC Mini Rally, July 12. Then GCFR and Infinite Monkeys in August.
