Shannonville Stages Rally.
Alan and Bruce competed in the SS at, where else, Shannonville on April 10. We came away with 8 very worn gravel tires, big grins, and plaques for our class win! Yah! (We won't talk about the fact that we were the only one in the class.) We finished 12th overall, against a bunch of open class cars and others, all of them, I'm sure, on tarmac tires. Alan just wanted to throw the car around and clear out the cobwebs after more than a year out of the loop. The old tires were free from FourStar (thanks, Dan), and certainly made for some interesting moments on the track.

We also were there to try out the head and neck restraint systems (Alan - HANS; Bruce - Hutchen's), to get the new belts adjusted properly, and basically get our heads together for the upcoming gravel rallies. I'll post my impressions of the Hutchen's later.

Thanks to Chris, who ventured out with us, to help with the above.

After checking into the Motel 5 in Belleville, we went to the track to have a look around, and met Ross Wood, dropping off the RSO trailer. He suggested we head over to Performance Motorsports Services, Ian Crerar and Justin Turner's new venture near Picton. We had a tour of the shop and of the ClearWater Design Canoes and Kayaks shop as well. Very interesting!

Scrutineering went well; we didn't even take the car off the trailer!

It was a weekend of very mediocre dining though. Wild Wing was a 10-15 minutes wait, so we went across the street to East Side Mario's. Same thing there, but we decided to wait. 10 turned into 20 into 30. Then we were informed that the kitchen was an hour behind! We stuck it out and were back at the motel by 9:30. The motel must have been built in the '50's - very dated, but clean and quiet. Breakfast at the restaurant at the front was so-so as well - 'nuf said. Coming home we stopped at Easton's at 28 - a line-up at the Swiss Chalet, then the Harvey's had problems with our order!

Upcoming

Jane and Bruce are competing in the PMSC Spring Runoff rally this weekend. Maybe Chris and Allison will join us - they did attend the RSO navigational rally school!

Alan and Bruce will be heading to Lanark Highlands Forest Rally in May. There should be another team in our Production GT class this time.

Till next time...
