Day 1 - St. John's to Gander
First place – with 9 others. 10 of us are penalty free, with 4 acquiring between 1 and 19 seconds.
An interesting day. 7 stages, 36 km, 462 total km including the transits. No jitters now – let's just do it. Argentia was run twice. A slow pace for the GT class – 54 km. Easily got up to 15 seconds early before we were 1 km. Placentia was fun; off and on the main road, into driveways, over the drawbridge, around the bridge kiosk, blind crests, steep downhills. Osprey Trail was 10 km long at an 88 km/h average. Rough at the beginning on a steep, sweeping downhill to a tee left, that could be straightened pretty easily. We caught the Corvette, but were 9 up so we backed off. When we both stopped, the driver came back and asked if we were a little fast. Turned out, they assumed it was still road condition 2. They were still within their window.
Lots of video that I'll try to post tomorrow.
