The road to Targa

We made it. Nine months in the planning, and we're actually here in Newfoundland. Jane and I are competing in the Grand Touring division of Targa Newfoundland next week and it's been an interesting journey to get to this point. First, thanks to our family, friends and co-workers for encouraging and advising us, especially Alan and Carolyn Ryall for the Targa background, and Chris Haid for the technical help and advice. Our son, Alan, has made this website possible. milkcratemedia.ca

I'll try to post as the week goes on, but no guarantees; who knows what might arise that will make for late nights. I know the mornings will be early! Photos will be posted here, and videos will be available, assuming Jane's camera works ok.

To date, here's what we've been up to. We left Georgetown Sunday September 6, and were on the island Tuesday evening. Good weather all the way. The ferry ride was uneventful, which is a good thing. On the Rock, we've stayed in Iles aux Morts, and Cape St. George. We didn't want to leave Inn on the Cape, in Cape St. George. Saner heads prevailed, though (didn't want to do 800 km. just before Targa), and we'll move on tomorrow.

We've got this other passenger hitching a ride with us (he keeps popping up in some of the pictures), but he hasn't told us his name yet. We're still trying to determine what it is.
